When he made this face I thought, "what the face?...."
Jack is still wearing newborn size clothes. I find myself wondering every time I dress him how much longer they will fit. He's growing fast, but was so small to begin with that he had to grow into them :) Luckily this means they're lasting a lot longer than we expected and we get to take tons of cute pictures in all his favorite outfits!
Waking up from nap time!!!
Fluffy bath hair, again. Its going to happen every time and I'm most likely going to post pictures of it...every time ;) I just think its so cute!
Lazy sleeper :)
Jack's first piece of mail! He's officially a real person now..hahaha...

Jack took a nap after some play time (left) and looked so peaceful! Today, Jonathan was holding Jack and he made this adorable face! (right) We just love this little dude so much :)
At the request of several of my friends, this is my birth story for Jack. You've seen so many adorable pictures of our little boy, now here's how that little dude arrived:
At 39 weeks I had been having fairly regular Braxton Hicks contractions almost all day, every day. That Sunday (after lots of walking) they were consistent and about 3-5 minutes apart. BUT, they didn't get stronger. Then after about seven hours of these contractions they stopped. This happened Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday.
Tuesday morning I had my weekly appointment with my OB. I told him about the contractions and he agreed that it was false labor. I had my membranes stripped and he said to expect something in the next 12-24 hours, if not, to come back to have it done again Wednesday morning. I go through my day with the consistent contractions but nothing else. When Jonathan came home we had dinner and went for our evening walk. We had been taking hour long walks every evening for the last week or so.
So we walked for an hour around Provo, just chatting and timing my annoyingly normal Braxton Hicks contractions hoping for something stronger to start happening. We walked and walked and it got dark and we walked to Smiths and bought ice cream and walked home. We ate ice cream and then went to bed.
Around 11:30 my regular contractions started getting a little stronger so I kept timing them ( and sleep? haha yeah forget about it! I was wide awake!). By 1:30 I was starting to feel that MAYBE I should get up and start getting ready. So I woke Jonathan up and told him I was going to shower and get ready and I'd let him know when I wanted to leave. I showered, got dressed and Jonathan got up and we were getting ready to leave when the contractions stopped. Oh yay! We sat on our couch for a while hoping they would start again... but no. sooo... we went back to bed. A few minutes later the started again! I timed them for another half hour just to be sure and they got stronger and stronger. Eventually I just knew this was real. These contractions were strong enough to make me have to think through them and double over a little. At 2:30 we left for the hospital.
We arrived at the American Fork Hospital a little after 3:00 am Wednesday morning. We went up to Labor and Delivery and they put me in a room and hooked me up to the monitors. I was 3.5 cm at this point. The nurse told me they had to wait to see if you was progressing at a rate that would mean I was in labor before they could admit me (or give me an epidural). An hour later, 4:00 am, I had progressed enough for them to admit me.
They admitted me and moved me to my delivery room. At 5:20 when they checked me I was at 4 cm. They gave me an IV for fluids and called the anesthesiologist for the epidural. When they gave me the IV I had been shaking so violently that they had to stick me twice. The first attempt left a huge bruise on my right arm :( Luckily the second attempt on my left arm was fine. The epidural took a long time they had to ask me lots of questions about my blood-clotting disorder etc. (the pre-admitting process they had me do beforehand was a joke because they just asked me all the same questions again). Then they got me positioned correctly in the bed, gave me the epidural, hooked everything up then documented it. After the epidural kicked in (LOVED IT!) my legs felt warm and tingly but I could still move them. I no longer felt any pain from the contractions, just a slight pressure during each one.
The nurse told me that for first pregnancies the progression is usually a cm/hour and I was looking at about six more hours of contractions then maybe 4 or more hours of pushing. I'm laying there thinking, "that's not bad...I feel pretty good after this epidural, that wont be so bad..." The nurse checks again, then calls over a second nurse and she checks. Then the first nurse looks up at me and says to forget what she just said, I was at 10 cm and I can start pushing!
They sent another nurse to go find my Dr. (who by the way was NOT on call but just happened to be around!) who broke my water. I had one nurse by one leg and Jonathan by the other. An hour and a half later at 7:24 am I had our baby boy in my arms :) He cried a little, enough to clear his lungs, and immediately gave the nurses the fattest lip/frowny face! We all thought he was the cutest thing ever!!!
Jack was born completely healthy at 5 lbs 12 oz and 17.5 inches long :)
