The Last of the Summer Adventures

With school just around the corner, Jonathan and I have been making the most out of our last weeks of summer. Of course, Jonathan won't be going back to school (lucky!) but we still decided to have a few more summer adventures before I get super busy.

We went climbing a lot in rock canyon:

We also went fishing in the Uinta Mountains twice. The first time we forgot the camera, but we fished in the same lake so the pictures would have looked the same anyways. The first time we went, we brought home four rainbow trout. They weren't very big, probably about 8-10 inches long, so all four made one meal. The second time we went, the lakes had dropped about 20 feet due to the dry weather. I don't know if it was because of the low water or just because it was later in the fishing season but we didn't catch anything the entire day. Despite this, we still had a blast!

The day after our second fishing trip Jonathan and I went camping down in Goblin Valley.  It was so cool! I hadn't been camping in years so I was a little uncomfortable but it was really worth it.  The first day we went hiking in Goblin Valley itself (weirdest rocks in the world!) and had a lot of fun.  It was really hot, well over a hundred, so we had to drink lots and lots of water to stay hydrated.  It was also super sunny.  (It was also a really really really bad hair day for me)

This is our little 2-person tent that we set up in our campsite.  The site was really nice, with a covered pavillion, cement platform, and a flat/enclosed tent area.  The site was also set back aways from the other sites which I liked a lot.

We brought a bag of Peachio's to snack on but by the time we got them out to eat them at the end of the day the heat of the car had melted them into a single blob of gooey-ness!  Jonathan tried to remove it from the bag and even attempted to eat the glob.  It was so halarious!  I think his face says it all :)

As the day wound down, the clouds became super gorgeous.  A camera obviously can't capture the intense beauty of seeing it it person but I think I did a pretty good job.

On the second day of our camping trip we hiked through Little Wild Horse Canyon and Bell Canyon.  Total, it was about an 8 mile hike.  The first part was really nice because it was through some super narrow slot canyons but the middle and the second part (through Bell Canyon) was a little wider and we got so hot in the direct sunlight.  We checked the weather and found out afterwards that we had been hiking in 104 degrees!!! No wonder we were so hot!  It was so much fun though to see how narrow and beautiful the canyons were.  Some parts were so narrow that there was no sand/dirt at the bottom, just rock.  After the hike we were so worn out and tired that we just got in the car and drove home.  It was a great way to end an awesome adventure!
